Katie B. Weigel, CFP®

Katie is Founder and Managing Director of LongPoint Financial Planning. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional dedicated to independence and objectivity. PIAM has partnered with LongPoint to offer MMS members financial planning services.

Katie has over ten years of investment services experience, with particular emphasis on designing and delivering critical evaluation tools to institutional investment clients. Katie was Vice President and Senior Product Manager of the Russell Indexes™, a world-renown set of indices benchmarking the various segments of the US financial markets, and quoted widely in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times , Newsweek and other popular media outlets. As head of this group, Katie was responsible for running the Russell Index business, including developing, with the Frank Russell Research Group , the existing style probability methodology for the Russell Growth and Value Indexes, and launching the Russell 2000 Index futures and options.

Prior to that, Katie was a Senior Financial Manager of Data Services and Products at Ibbotson Associates , the preeminent capital markets research consulting firm, famous for its Stocks, Bonds, Bill and Inflation ™ data series, tracking the performance of various financial asset classes from 1926 forward.

From 2002-2004, Katie was a vice president at Thomas Partners , a boutique investment management firm, specializing in advising high net-worth individuals, and designing separately-managed dividend-growth portfolios to meet their goals and objectives.

Katie’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire , and a Masters degree in Applied Economics and Statistics from the University of Minnesota . She completed her Certified Financial Planning program at Boston University .
